SELF-PIERCING NUT RIFAST® STM+

RIFAST® STM+ · IDEA OF DEVELOPMENT

RIFAST® STM+ is an innovative nut development for material thickness from 2.0 to 3.0 mm. This addition to our RIFAST® Systems product line increases the installation capacity into sheet metal components without a pre-hole.

RIFAST® STM+ · DESIGN AND FUNCTION

RIFAST® Systems new STM+ design uses an optimized pilot geometry where the thickness of the pilot is increased to manage the increased stress from self-piercing into thicker sheet metal. Our new STM+ development utilizes our trusted RIFAST® Systems patented self-piercing technology (STM) and improves upon the proven design.

RIFAST® ENB ENM FOR HIGH-STRENGTH STEEL

RIFAST® ENB ENM · IDEA OF DEVELOPMENT

RIFAST® ENB (Bolt) and RIFAST® ENM (Nut) is an innovative development for high-strength steels with tensile strength greater than 600 N/mm² with material thickness from 1.0 to 2.0 mm. This addition to our RIFAST® Systems product line increases the installation capacity into sheet metal components made from HSLA and Gen 3 steels.

RIFAST® ENB ENM · DESIGN AND FUNCTION

RIFAST® Systems new ENB ENM design uses the pilot geometry and the staking die design to create the element and sheet metal joint in such a way that the torsional and push-out strength is achieved from the element pilot in the sheet metal hole. This design creates a flat sheet metal surface after installation on the clinching side for better final assembly of parts attached to the sheet metal with no cracks in the element pilot.

THE PROVEN RIFAST® BOLT TECHNOLOGY NOW EVEN CHEAPER

RIFAST® clinch bolts (EPB) are used millions of times. In many cases they are included as OEM standard in sheet metal applications. In the future, our customer will be able to use RIFAST® clinch bolts (EPB) even more cost-effectively: Our new c-frames RIFAST® CSE Inline DPC not only installs the RIFAST® EPB – they also prepare the sheet metal for stud installation. Before installing the RIFAST® EPB, the sheet metals are domed at the joining position and pierced at the same time.

DPC RIFAST® CSE INLINE DPC · INNOVATION

The Innovation of this c-frame is that it performs the hole preparation (dome and pierce) itself and then install the clinching bolt with identical cycle times. This is possible by using a fast, yet energy-saving servo direct drive. Process monitoring: Monitors the processes and records the installation curve. In this way you will continue to receive the proven properties of the RIFAST® clinching bolts in your components.

CUSTOMER BENEFIT

  • No separate hole preparation necessary
  • More flexibility for component variants
(with EPB or without or at other positions)
  • Almost identical cycle times
  • No hole finding necessary
  • Processing of our proven standard clinching bolts EPB
    ∙ Known product features
∙ Stock reduction – because of usage one bolt
  • for applications with or without a hole preparation
  • This is made possible by the new patented installation process.

RIFAST® SYSTEMTECHNIK –  INNOVATIONS WITH A SYSTEM

RIFAST®, Richard Bergner Verbindungstechnik is a globally renowned manufacturer of fasteners based in Schwabach, Germany, which has struck a nerve in the automobile industry. The reason: The RIFAST® system not only includes production and sales of high-quality functional elements, but also offers the joining technology behind it at the same time.

Our success shows that we meet the increasing demands in the field of sheet joining technology with our package,’ summarises Ralph A. Bergner, Head of Division Management of RIFAST® Systemtechnik: ‘Manufacturers are tending to focus ever more strongly on their core competencies and are increasingly shifting the development of components with greater production depth to their suppliers. We meet this desired evolution of product suppliers to technology suppliers precisely with RIFAST®.’

RIFAST® LIGHTWEIGHT NUT (LBM)

Compact product design ensures that weight can be reduced by up to 75 percent with the new RIFAST® lightweight nut (LBM), depending on design. That saves about one kilogram in the use of around 220 nuts for body construction. The space saving thanks to the smaller dimensions of the nut also allows more flexibility in the use of the installation space.

RIFAST® CLINCHING NUT (ENM) AND
RIFAST® CLINCHING BOLT (ENB)

The RIFAST® clinching nut (ENM) and RIFAST® clinching bolt (ENB) were developed in answer to the increasing use of high-strength and ultra high-strength steel in the automotive industry. Both products can be used in steel with a tensile strength greater than 600 MPa. A crucial part of the solution here is a compression collar which is designed so that the functional elements fill the pre-punched hole in the steel, thus ensuring a smooth mounting surface for the installation components.

RIFAST® CSE INLINE-DPC

The new RIFAST® CSE Inline-DPC makes the pre-piercing of holes, which was once required for the processing of the staking bolt (EPB), unnecessary. The C-frame is designed so that it completely takes over the pre-piercing and doming – before the staking bolt is inserted. This is made possible by the newly developed servo direct drive (CLD).
